46% of internet users purchasing via mobile

Hi there,

Online adults are now as likely to own a smartphone as a PC/laptop and the boom in mobile ownership is having a clear impact on the online shopping behaviors of digital consumers.

46% of internet users are now turning to mobile at least once a month to engage with online commerce. These rates may still lag behind those seen for PC/laptops (73%) but it does represent a 20-point increase from the end of 2012.

What’s more, consumers in APAC are showing just how impactful mobiles can be in the purchase journey. In this region, 6 in 10 are shopping online using their smartphones each month. The constant evolution of smartphones and increasing mobile-optimization of the online shopping experience means that it may not be too long before we see these figures repeated in other world regions.
